Wielding powerful influence, and supported by unlimited financial resources, Metro Atlanta is seeking to fortify its infrastructure at South Georgia's expense.

Atlanta Journal Constitution blasted the funding of South Georgia transportation projects. Metro Atlanta legislators are fighting to have transportation funding redistributed to favor interstate projects.
The population explosion in the northern part of the state continues to consume that region’s natural resources, most notably water. It is imperative that South Georgia protect and preserve the right to control its natural resources.
The budget affects Transportation and Natural Resources, in turn affecting all economic development. Without a watchdog group like SGBED, South Georgia as a region would have no representation on a daily basis at the State Capitol. Metro Atlanta employs a team of lobbyists.
